Sometimes a detailer has to realize that not everyone sees all the defects and flaws that he sees, and that's a good thing. |
CASE STUDY #4 When this MINI was brought to me, I was eager to get working. I knew I could darken and bring out the deep gloss of this metallic British Racing Green paint.
During the inspection, I noticed a series of odd scratches. The owner told me that his dogs get a little eager sometimes. Seems dogs and MINI's just go hand in hand! Typical swirls on Windshield pillars Car was washed and clayed at the same time. Once the entire car has been washed and claybarred, we washed it one more time to remove the clay residue. Then I went around removing each defect using the rotary buffer. Finally once satisfied with that, I concentrated on the bonnet by applying 2 passes with the paint cleaner, 1 coat of pure polish, and 2 coats of NXT wax. After the bonnet was completed, I proceeded to finish off the rest of the car. Now that we're done with the paint, we need to make sure all the wax residue is removed from the crevices, apply NXT Metal Polysh on the chrome areas, and apply NXT Insane Shine to the tires and plastic trim. Excess Shine is removed with a towel, and over spray is wiped away with NXT Speed Detailer. That ISN'T the owners dog!!
